From knowledge about our planet to sustainable practices!

An educational programme that simultaneously awakens children's interest in science, a sense of global citizenship and responsibility for the world around them!

Kinder suchen mit Lupen auf einem Bild unsere Erde, einen kleinen Punk oder auch blaue Perle genannt.

„Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home.“

The project

The Pale Blue Dot Program (BPP) for primary schools linkes STEM topics with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Through stories, illustrative experiments, models and animations, the children's interest for research and at the same time their global sense of community and responsibility for the world around them are awakened. In the various modules, the students actively explore the unique nature of the earth and are encouraged to act sustainably and protect the climate.

The program was developed by the astronomers Dr. Cecilia Scorza-Lesch and Christine Freitag from the Faculty of Physics at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with the support of the Bavarian Savings Bank Foundation. The project's headquarters is the Institute for Teacher Training (ILF) in Gars am Inn.

Pilot programmes

The first pilot projects were realised at the "Institut für Lehrerfortbildung" (ILF) in "Gars am Inn".

In international cooperation with astronomers from the International Astronomical Union (IAU), pilot projects of the programme have already been offered in Armenia and South Africa.

The following are some impressions to give you an idea of our project.
